In Awaodori Dance, dancers form a line and take steps forward, so the venue must be long and straight.
In Tokyo Koenji Awaodori Festival, all the dancing venues are set up along public streets and shopping promenades.

Get the Feel of Awaodori at Koenji Station!

The train departure bell changes to the melody of Awaodori dance from August 1 until the festival ends. You may be tempted to dance to the bell even before the festival!

Hikawa Shrine

Koenji Awaodori Dance Festival first started as a dedication to the Hikawa Shrine. Inside the shrine premises, you can also find the only Weather Shrine (shrine dedicated to the god of weather) in Japan. Why don’t you pray for the good weather for the festival?

Koenji Temple

The name of the town Koenji originates from this Shukuhozan Koenji Temple. It is said that the third Tokugawa shogun Iemitsu visited the temple often for falconry back in the Edo Era.

Momozono River Pedestrian Path

This 2.3 kilometer-long pedestrian path stretches between Asagaya, the neighborhood town of Koenji, and Kandagawa River. The water used to be crystal-clear, and people used it for their daily lives.

Konan Street

Konan Street stretches between JR Koenji Station south exit and Ome Kaido Avenue. When the street was partly completed in 1969, it became one of the main dancing venues and has been contributing to the development of the festival since then.

The most popular venue located along Konan St., close to JR Koenji Station south exit.

Pal Embujo

Located along Pal Shotengai, the all-weather shopping arcade, where the Tokyo Koenji Awaodori first started.

Located along Junjo Shotengai, the most famous shopping promenades of Koenji.

Higashi Embujo

Located in the East side of JR Koenji Station north exist, Higashi Embujo gives you both the lively streetscape and relaxing atmosphere of Koenji.

Look Daiichi Embujo

Located along the Look Shotengai, close to Ome Kaido Ave. and Shin-Koenji Station of Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line.

Located in the south side of the Look Shotengai, next to the Pal Embujo.

Located along Konan St. since 2006, this newest venue keeps an air of residential districts of Koenji.
